Description
GET is also a biomass fuel supplier; from a 50 hectare willow plantation it supplies wood chip to district heat the UK’s largest eco-village in Brokerstown, Lisburn. This renewable fuel currently heats over 380 homes, with a further 120 homes in development.
The company has gained recognition from the Department of Energy and Climate Change by obtaining accreditation under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. This allows GET to install approved technologies through the Low Carbon Buildings grant scheme. In addition GET is accredited by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland via its Greener Homes Scheme.
GET’s Directors, John Martin and Patrick Flynn, have also made a commitment to share their knowledge and help other adopters of renewable technology. John Martin is a founding member and secretary of Biomass Northern Ireland and Patrick Flynn is a member of The Sustainable Energy Association. Both of these organisations are support networks for the renewable energy sector, as well as taking an active role in educating local and national government on how to implement environmental strategies.
